You Can't Cheat The Universe
You guys, I have a confession to make… I don’t really like beer.
Sorry for being honest here, but beer doesn’t make me feel like my best-self. As a matter of fact, it makes me feel bloated AF with uncontrollable burping and/or farting (like I said, just being honest).
Don't get me wrong, at one point beer was my world, but remember that dramatic promise I made to 2017?
Deep down, I knew it was time to let go of my beer babe dreams and start living my best life. I put that energy out into the universe, and as my favorite book The Alchemist so famously reads, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
By now you are probably thinking, “Ok so WTF does that have to do with beer? Did you get the Drink It Internship or not?”
Well my friend, I’m glad you asked because, no I didn’t.
You see, the universe knows my hearts true desire, and feeding my ego with all this beer babe bullshit is guaranteed to lead me down a road that isn’t best for me.
As philosophical as all that sounds, it doesn't make letting go of this personal project that much easier. I spent years learning about the craft beer world and making connections with people in the industry. From hustling tables, to hosting festivals and educating myself on every beer possible. I fought hard for this, so you can only imagine the pain I felt after not getting the gig (…twice) but I can proudly say that I gave it my all.
Seriously, for a journey that began as me pretending to work for the travel channel, I like to think I had a pretty good run.
At this moment, there is no doubt in my mind what my souls purpose is— and yeah, the $12,000 from the internship would have been a nice way to make that happen, but you can’t cheat the universe.
I know the work I am supposed to do in order for the universe to conspire and make all my dreams come true.
Funny how things come around full circle, huh?
