The Power of Pitaya

Allow me to fill you in on a little island secret... Nestled in the heart of Diamond Head there’s a local hotspot where all the cool kids hang out.

(Really, the regulars here include the cast of Hawaii 5-0, Lost and even Mr. Fear the Beard himself, Brian Wilson).

Recently, during my weekly visit the Health Bar, I decided to shake things up and swap out my typical Mana Bowl for a new exclusive item on the menu.

Move over Acai, there’s a new super fruit in town and her name is Pitaya.

Also known as dragon fruit, Pitaya is a cactus plant fruit is grown in tropical and subtropical areas including Asia and South America.

Although this exotic tasty treat may seem a little on the flamboyant side, don’t let the pink fool you. This babe is raw, organic and flourishing with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and a wide-range of health benefits as fierce as her color.

Pitaya

Let me break it down and fill you in on exactly how Pitaya puts the super in super fruit.

+ High Fiber

Pitaya is rich in fiber which removes harmful toxins, helps lower cholesterol and improves your overall digestive health.

+ Vitamin C

The amount of Vitamin C found in dragon fruit is high and helps protect against various immune system deficiencies.

+ Calcium

Essential for the body to protect and heal, the calcium in this super fruit works to keep illness and disease at bay.

+ Low Sugar

Because Pitaya is raw, organic and contains no additional sugar, it helps diabetics maintain safe blood sugar levels while helping reverse the symptoms of onset of adult diabetes.

+ Omega-3

Dragon fruit is an exceptional source of omega-3, by adding it to your regular diet you will lower your risk of chronic diseases including; heart disease, cancer and arthritis.

Thanks to the mouth-watering grinds of Pitaya, now when I visit The Health Bar I'm like "Brian Wilson who...?"
