Commit To Something
You guys, I have a confession to make— I’m afraid of commitment. It’s not as much as the “settling down” kind of commitment, as it is the “all my eggs in one basket” kind of commitment.
I live in constant fear that saying yes to one opportunity will keep me from exploring another path of possibility and for the past couple of months I’ve been consciously trying to break this vicious cycle by challenging myself to commit to something.
But honestly, I didn’t know what the hell I wanted to commit myself to, until I walked through the doors of my local Equinox club and I saw the sign I was looking for (literally).
I’m not sure if it was the epic views of the California coast, or the cute sales guy that helped me out, but somehow I managed to overcome my fear by making a commitment to this new fitness club.
I went in with the intention to schmooze a free workout, and next thing you know they schmoozed me into becoming newest member of this bougie ass gym.
Now I know you are probably wondering, “But Gennah, isn’t Equinox like, really expensive?”
Fuck yeah it is, but is my happiness not worth it?!
The commitment I made wasn’t to a fancy fitness center, as much as it was making a commitment to myself.
I’m not kidding when I say, from the moment I signed up my entire life began to transform. I landed a new job, I’ve been meeting new friends, I’ve been making more money, and my body ain’t looking so bad either.
(Insert shameless gym selfie here.)
One of the many lessons my Equinox experience has taught me is, when it comes to commitment you have to dive in with faith and trust that this is the best thing you could ever do for yourself.
Don’t worry about the money, the how, the future, or whatever other lingering thoughts that may be holding you back. Believe that you are able and deserving to experience something far beyond your wildest dreams— then go for it!
This kind of loyalty to yourself only shows the Universe how serious you are about your goals, and in return, it will gift you with everything you need to help make your dreams come true.
Happy Fall Equinox Mermaids!
Face your fears and commit to your own happiness this next season of life.
You deserve it!
