Sacred Self-Care Rituals for the Next New Moon
The moon is a powerful little beezy.
As I became more aware of its magical powers, I started to notice how each phase was aligned with my own spiritual growth. I mean think about it, the moon controls the tides, so as a mermaid, why wouldn’t it have some kind of pull over my spirit?
This little discovery piqued my curiosity and eventually, I learned how to work with the moon and manifest personal transformation in my own life.
I know I might sound like a witchy woman over here, but allow me to break it down for you.
There are five essential phases of the moon that I usually to work with.
New Moon: This time is the beginning of a new cycle. It when you get clear on what you want to manifest into reality over the next 28 days.
Waxing Moon: As the moon begins to grow so do your efforts. This is a time of action, so be patient and work hard.
Full Moon: When the moon reaches its fullest expression, it is time to step into your power! This is when the results of your action start to come to fruition and opportunity is amplified.
Waning Moon: As the moon begins to fade, this period should be focused on releasing. It is time to let go of what is no longer serving your greatest good.
Dark Moon: Finally, the moon disappears as it prepares for a new cycle which means, it is time for you to go inward and reflect on what you learned about yourself through it all.
Since the new moon sets a special tone for the entire cycle, I make it a point to practice some sacred self-care rituals. That way, my soul is reset and my heart is open to all the mystical energy in the air!
Here are five ways to get your spirit ready for a new moon cycle, so you too can learn how to cope with life’s different phases and shine bright in all your glory!
1. Clean Your Space
I love me a good deep cleaning. Not only does it leave your space sparkling, but it also clears your energy making room for more positivity and possibility to enter. This new moon ritual is all about embracing your inner Cinderella and cleaning your castle before the big ball! Scrub the floors, wash your sheets, burn some sage— do what you got to do to welcome this new energy in with a clean slate.
2. Clear Your Aura
Now that you have cleaned your space, it is time to clear your aura. I love doing this through quality tub time, salty dips in the ocean, and drinking lots of water. The idea here is to flush out any toxins mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally through the healing properties of water.
3. Get Grounded
If you are really trying to connect with the magical energy of the moon, it is important to plant yourself in the now. Through different grounding techniques, you are able to connect to the moment and connect to the life-force around you. It can be anywhere from mindful breathing to walking barefoot on grass, it can even be as simple as watching the sunset. Just be sure to pause, breathe, and ground yourself in the now.
4. Do an Oracle Reading
If you are a spiritual skeptic, try to open your mind to an oracle reading. It is different than a traditional carrot reading because rather than the cards telling you how the future will play out, they are there to guide you through a personal transformation. I do this special ceremony on the night of the new moon and ask my spirit guides to show me where I should be focusing my energy. I pull a card for each phase of the moon and then journal out intentions for the cycle based on what the cards are showing.
Now that is some witchy shit.
5. Take it One Day at a Time
You might not be able to notice, but the moon slowly changes every single day— and the same goes for you! It the moons natural rhythm to slowly grow and fade and begin again. Growth takes time so remember to be patient and trust the process. Connect with the natural ebb and flow of life and see what kind of magic The Universe has in store for you!
Happy new moon sea sisters, it’s the final one of 2020, so lets make it count!
